Apply using a hard copy form
The DCSI Screening Unit is phasing out paper screening application forms.
All applications are now to be submitted using the Screening Unit's online form (except where exceptional circumstances apply - see below for more details).
Approved applicants (who have demonstrated that they meet 'exceptional circumstances' provisions) can go to any Service SA centre to submit and pay for their screening using a credit card or debit card. A cash payment option is expected to be added in the near future. This arrangement (for the lodgement and payment of paper application forms) replaces the service previously provided by Australia Post outlets, as of 31 January 2017.
Some applicants may be unable to use the online system to apply for screening; for example, if the applicant;
- has no access to the internet;
- is a recent arrival (i.e. has lived in Australia for 6 weeks or less); or
- is a legal minor.
To have an applicant considered for exceptional circumstances status, the Requesting Officer in the organisation engaging the applicant should email the Screening Unit at DCSI.firstname.lastname@example.org detailing the applicant's circumstances.
If exceptional circumstances status is granted, the requesting organisation will be sent an application form. From 31 January 2017 exceptional circumstances forms can be submitted at any Service SA centre.
Please note that paper applications may require more processing time than applications submitted online.
